My topic is: My English teacher.

My English teacher’s name is Kent Rooney, and he’s from Maine in the United States. Whenever he speaks Chinese, we always burst out laughing: “Please!! 拜託 Bai-tuo~!!” His signature language is “Hello!! Think!! Use your head!!”, and his interest is to give us quizzes.
He has a lot of hair on his arms, but not on his head. He always carries his water bottle around. His mind is always focused on homework. Before class starts, the whole classroom is filled with all kinds of noises – some classmates reviewing, some chatting. But whenever Kent enters the room, we all turn silent in one second that you can even hear a pin drops.
Kent demands absolute attention in class. We always stare at him unless we have to read. However, when it comes to the grammar period of class, some of us feel so bored and what Kent says goes in one ear and out the other. Some of us start to day-dream. Then Kent would immediately use his secret weapon – “What do we add to the verb if it’s talking about NOW???” Kent catches our attention by suddenly raising his voice! We often jump from our seats when he does it, but it really works and alerts us!
Kent also has a great sense of humor. He often teases us, and himself too. He sometimes dances to the music and makes us giggle. Whenever any of us does anything exceptional, we get to draw a little prize from the “Lucky Draw Box”. It’s full of small toys, candy, stationary, and other things that you would never expect from a “Lucky Box”. I got a pink headband once, and my classmate the other day got a pack of ketchup.
I’ve never been to America. But Kent’s chats in class about the oceans and mountains and the different customs in America make me feel that we have been there with him in his adventures! We not only learn from textbooks, but we learn more from the things Kent teaches us – including the culture, the manner, and more importantly, the learning attitude.
He doesn’t demand perfection, but he always asks us to do our best. He is a tall man with short hair, a moustache, and a high standard to us students and himself. I enjoy learning English so much. I have fun in class and I study hard at home. And it all thanks to him, my English teacher.
