PET Class ¨ Erin

One day, Mrs. Julia said to the class:" Tomorrow we will be having a test. We will be testing pages 35-50. Study well." Evan usually fails tests. But his mother told him that if he still didn't pass his next test, she would take away his phone for a week. "You had better study for the next test Evan," she told him," or else I will take away your phone for a week."

Evan went home that day and told his mom:" I'm having a history test tomorrow." he announced," Don't worry, I will study all night." And so he did. He studied from 4:00 in the afternoon until 12:00 midnight. "Wow," he thought," this is easier than I thought. I guess studying does make it easier."

The next day, Evan woke up, got dressed, and went downstairs for breakfast. "Good morning Evan, did you study for your test?" asked his mom, who was in the kitchen making breakfast. "Yes mom, I told you I did. Stop worrying. I'll be fine." he added, noticing his mom was still looking worriedly at him. On the way to class, he studied over and over again. "The Boston Tea Party, 1776 ...."

"All right everyone, I hope you all have been studying very hard, especially you Evan; your scores haven't been very good lately." said Mrs. Julia. " Don't worry. I'll do great. I promise." he assured her. "Well, I'm quite glad to hear that." she said, starting to hand out the test. "You have 30 minutes. Good luck." she said smoothly. Evan felt confident, but not for long.

As he looked down at his test, he gasped. He could hardly believe it. The test wasn't history; it was math! "This must be some sort of mistake." Evan thought. He raised his hand. "Yes Evan, any questions?" asks Mrs. Julia. "Y-Yes, I th-thought we were te-testing h-history." he stammered nervously. "Why, I never said anything about history; I was talking about math the whole time, weren't you listening? Anyone else, like Evan, thinks we were testing history instead of math?" she asked.  No one answered. Evan looked at his best friend Benson for support. But Benson said nothing, like all the others.

When Mrs. Julia passed back the test, she said coldly:" Evan, another zero. Why am I not surprised?" Evan went home, showed his mom his test, and got his phone taken away for a week. "I'm going to listen to the teacher from now on." he promised himself. And so he did.
